The Best Pizza in Swindon

You will be treated with suspicion and hostility. Our party 3 couples turned up and told the waitress that we had Nectar vouchers. She called the manageress, who demanded to see the vouchers and went through one of them line-by-line the voucher comes as an email, 3 pages long when printed out, full of detailed restrictions looking for some reason for not accepting them. She was very happy when she found a clause that said only one voucher could be used per party.

So we said "OK, give us separate bills and treat us as multiple parties". So we had to make do with using one voucher and paying full whack for the rest. It seems odd to me that a promotional voucher presumably designed to get new customers into the restaurant should be treated with such disdain - no way will any of us ever be eating at Pizza Express again, we don't like being treated like second-class citizens.

To make things worse, the food was terrible; my pizza was called "American Hot" but it was small and bland badly needed some jalapenos or something. My wife's lasagne was small and thin, and very poor value - everything is way overpriced here. Visited for lunch on 13th august - in the party of 5 were a grandmother, 2 mothers , an 8 year old and a 3 year old. We arrived at - there were empty tables so I would say about half full, drinks arrived quite quickly but the food order took a while to make.

We then waited, and waited and guess what? Waited a bit more! I eventually asked a waitress where our food was as we had now been in pizza express for an hour. She disappeared, and Steve the duty manager arrived with our food docket order I explained that it took 20 minutes to take our order - by this time our 3 year old was climbing the walls. I told Steve I wasn t here to argue with him, I just asked how long our food was going to take - his reply was they were a chef down and we hadn't t really waited that long.

He promised we only had another 5 minutes to wait We couldn't t wait for the children's deserts as we felt that we would soon have squatters rights in the restaurant! The waitress was lovely and appeared unsurprised that yet another customer was complaining I overheard others complaining too. When we did get the food it was lovely but to be honest we were all to hungry a scabby donkey would have looked appetising! Took my 9 year old son here for his first ever express experience and have to say we were very disappointed with the service.

Bearing in mind it was only the two of us and you have to pay for parking at the outlet, it took 1 hour and 45 mins from when we ordered to when we finished! Two pizzas and one pudding ordered! When mentioned to the waitress she explained that their ovens aren't big enough! And it wasn't even that busy. Shall not be going back even though the food was good.

We had lunch about 1 on a Monday. The place was busy but not full and there were clean tables available. I imagine that it was the managers who were doing the front of house meet and greet and seating customers. These women were not in uniform but smartly dressed. We waited to be seated and watched these women continue to avoid our gaze and continue to clear tables.

We continued to wait and it was about nearly ten minutes before one of the women acknowledged us. She approached us and uttered only the words " Two? I appreciate that these ladies appeared to be busy clearing tables but as there were tables available, I am still at a loss as to why they did not acknowledge us, even if only to apologise that there would be a ten minute wait. Had we not have been at an outlet centre where restaurants are scarce we would have left.

A female waitress wearing the uniform red top served us and she did her job efficiently and politely. My low rating for service reflects the meet and greet experience, not the waitress service. The pizza was ok but not the best pizza I have had. It was a little moist on the base but it was tasty. My experience of customer service at other Pizza Express restaurants has always been positive one.

First ever visit to a pizza express and will be the last, staff appeared disinterested and the food and service was very poor expected so much better, lets be honest wasn't cheap either. The new restaurant, which can seat diners, has a team which includes eight pizzaiolos and 22 waiters and waitresses and opened to food lovers yesterday. Andy Proctor, manager of PizzaExpress Swindon, said: Each PizzaExpress restaurant is individually designed — often using well known places, people or historical events from the area as the basis. The Swindon restaurant is situated in the renovated listed building of the Great Western Railway works. Timber, blackened steel, rich leathers and industrial lighting run throughout, with private dining areas having the appearance of railway booths, equipped with vintage rail carriage storage racks and mood lighting above. And imagery of train rivets and metal fret cut screens give the appearance of train tracks. The restaurant runs free visits for local primary schools, turning the kitchens into classrooms.
